If there is attic space between the sloped ceiling and the roof, choose "Attic above"; DuraVent requires an attic insulation shield anywhere the chimney passes through an attic.

Chimney Length: the height needed above the roof, plus your attic height if you have one. Depending on your roof pitch and how far the chimney exits from the ridge, that is usually 3 to 7 ft, and up to 12 ft on very steep roofs. The chart in the photos gives the number for your roof. Lengths marked "includes roof bracket" (7 to 10 ft) come with the DuraTech Extended Roof Bracket (6DT-XRS), which DuraVent requires when more than 5 ft of chimney stands above the roof.

Why double wall? DVL needs only 6" of clearance to combustibles, versus 18" for single wall, which matters with a sloped ceiling close to the pipe. It also holds flue temperature better on long runs for a stronger draft.

Ceiling pitch: with DVL, the 11" box is rated for ceilings up to 6/12 and fits inside typical cathedral rafters; the taller 24" box is used when there is attic space above, to clear the insulation. Ceiling steeper than 6/12? Use the 7/12 - 12/12 kit. More than 118 in from stove top to ceiling? Contact us.

Stove not included.
